Nowhere to Lay His Head
A week before Remembrance, the head of Christ was struck from a war-memorial crucifix in Warrington. The tradition names it plainly: sacrilege, and God is not mocked. Yet the bishops keep silent, the police offer “reassurance,” and the State spreads £5m across every church, temple and gurdwara in the land. Who will stand guard over the Cross, and over the names beneath it?
