Sub Fideli Custodia
Churches burn, tabernacles are forced, statues smashed, and every time we blame the arsonist. He is guilty. But who left the door open? The Church’s own law binds her custodians to guard what is holy, and punishes grave negligence. Bishops who leave cathedrals without cameras or fire detection are not unlucky. In the Church’s own terms, they are criminally negligent. Someone has to say it aloud.
