As we step into 2026, the Canons Regular of the Sacred Heart of Jesus begin our annual Donations Campaign — a moment each year when we invite friends, benefactors, and all who share our mission to stand with us in sustaining the pastoral, educational, and charitable work entrusted to our care. This is not simply a fundraising effort. It is a renewal of shared responsibility for the life of the Church, and for the people who rely on us for sacramental ministry, spiritual accompaniment, and practical support.

Our pastoral work depends on stability. The daily rhythm of ministry — preaching, teaching, visiting the sick, the dying and their families, preparing the young for the sacraments, and offering a listening ear to those who carry heavy burdens — requires time, presence, and freedom from financial constraints. Your generosity allows our clergy to focus on people rather than paperwork, on prayer rather than pressure, ensuring that the Gospel is offered with clarity and compassion.

At the same time, the formation of future clergy remains one of our most sacred responsibilities. The Academy of Priestly Studies continues to prepare men for a life of service, prayer, and pastoral leadership. Formation is long, demanding, and beautiful, and it requires resources: sound theological education, spiritual direction, and the practical training that shapes priests capable of serving with both competence and tenderness. Supporting this work is an investment in the future of the Church.

Our outreach and evangelisation efforts also depend on the kindness of those who believe in our mission. In a world marked by loneliness, uncertainty, violence, rage, war, disease, inequality, injustice and rapid change, the Gospel must be proclaimed with renewed hope. Whether through digital outreach, catechetical materials, or community initiatives, your support helps us reach hearts that might otherwise remain untouched.

The charism of the Canons Regular of the Sacred Heart of Jesus — rooted in the Eucharist, lived in community, and expressed in pastoral charity — is a gift we are called to nurture and share. Supporting the Canons Regular of the Sacred Heart of Jesus means supporting a way of life that places Christ at the centre and seeks to make His Heart known through service.

As we launch this year’s campaign, we invite you to pray for its success, to share our mission with others, and to give according to your means. Every contribution, large or small, strengthens the work of the Church and helps us continue the ministry entrusted to us.

To all who have supported us in the past: thank you. Your generosity has kept the Open Chaplaincy afloat, seminarians studying, and pastoral care alive in places where it is deeply needed. As we begin this new year, we entrust our mission once again to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the love and kindness of those who walk with us.

May 2026 be a year of grace, renewal, and shared purpose.

Thank you and God bless you all and keep you healthy, in peace and prosperity.

FR. G. V. W. LEWIS

Fr. G. V. W. Lewis serves the Old Catholic Church as a priest incardinated in the Canons Regular of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (CRSHJ), where he holds the office of Superior General and Vicar‑General for the CRSHJ in the United Kingdom, since 2019. His ministry is marked by a calm, steady authority rooted in prayer, fidelity to the Wider Church of Christ’s tradition, and a deep pastoral concern for those entrusted to his care. As Principal of the Academy of Priestly Studies, he guides seminarians, clergy, and lay collaborators with a clear vision of priestly life grounded in holiness, intellectual formation, and compassionate service. His leadership blends theological depth with practical wisdom, forming ministers who can preach, teach, and accompany God’s people with integrity.

Fr. Lewis is widely recognised for his ability to craft texts that unite doctrinal clarity with beauty. His work spans canonical documents, liturgical resources, devotional materials, and creative projects that draw from the Wider Church’s rich artistic heritage. Whether shaping prayers, designing visual materials, or developing formation programmes, he approaches each task with reverence and a desire to make the faith accessible and compelling.

Alongside his responsibilities, he remains committed to pastoral outreach, especially among the bereaved and those in care. His writing reflects the same qualities that mark his ministry and personality: gentle, steady, compassionate, gregarious, good-humoured, and a conviction that God’s grace is at work in every human story.
